Basanti

Novel on a low-caste teen-age girl brought up in a Delhi basti. This novel was translated twice. Originally published in 1980, Sahni, a professor of English, translated the work with Jaidev into English in 1997. After his death, the novel was again translated by Shveta Sarda in 2016 published by Penguin.
