कोहरे में कैद रंग
Colors, everywhere. Every person brings their own unique color into the world. Often, that color remains unseen, shrouded by fog too soon. Some weave their colors into the fabric of their lives. If only there were no veil of fog over these colors. This novel unfurls the tapestry of life, adorned with myriad hues. Even in adverse circumstances, people live with dignity, fulfilling their life duties – strengthening their faith in life and that of their readers.
Where Govind Mishra's earlier novel Phool—Imaratein aur Bandar focused more on the realism of a particular era, Kohre Mein Qaid Rang seems to embrace the entirety of life's realities, avoiding all conflicts such as realism vs. idealism, the external vs. the internal. Life—just life—whose color is like water, flowing almost seamlessly beyond the boundaries of time. Yet, through the life philosophies of the old, the new, and the newest characters, distinct colors are seen floating in the water.
The novel's narrative delves into the novel being written within it, blurring the lines between life and fiction as they flow into each other, back and forth. This exceptional novel won the Sahitya Akademi (Central) Award in Hindi.
